Call for Projects - Youth Science Hack Day
In line with the Science Lab @ re:publica, hosted in co-operation with the Wissenschaftsjahr 2014, a Youth Science Hack Day will take place on the weekend prior to #rp14 and is aimed at young developers, designers, scientists and hackers between the ages of 18 and 28, who are interested in bringing together science and technology.
Imagine the Youth Science Hack Day as a sort of laboratory. All participants will come equipped with an idea / project, which they - together with others - want to work on and develop. We will provide materials and support you with examples. We’ve also invited experts from science & research, who will be able to help you in the implementation.

Our Youth Science Hack Day will take place on 3 May around midday and begin with a brief introduction and a few inspirations for the available resources (data, sources, provided materials). You will then divide into team and start on your hacks. Feel free to pull an all-nighter to hack and tinker… time’s up on 4 May at midday! Your team will then present your results to the other participants.
After that it’s time to prepare your results or project in such a way that they can be presented to and possibly tested by the visitors at re:publica’s “Open Science” sub-conference (7 – 8 May). Entry is free, but you have to register by 24 April via amiando as places are limited. A Hackpad where you can collect and share your ideas is already in place.

You can access the Hackpad to start to collect and discuss ideas and projects with others and find potential teammates in advance (please note, accessing the Hackpad is not a registration for the Science Hack Day).
I don’t live in Berlin. Can I still participate?
Of course! We have created fund for travel costs for applicants outside of Berlin. Send an Email to travel [at] re-publica.de, letting us know where you are traveling from and an estimate of your travel expenses (re-imbursements are made via your travel receipts).
