Hosted under the title science:lab, re:publica 2014 and the Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung’s sponsored Wissenschaftsjahr 2014 – Die digitale Gesellschaft organised a sub conference on open science – a retrospective.
The Science Hack Day is in full swing and while the hacks are still being intensely worked on, we’d like to take a moment to present some first impressions.
- -Delia, one of the co founders and the President of P2PU, will showcase some of P2PU current and future cool projects - and some of the surprising results that come out of learning by the seat of your pants.
- -Over the years science fiction has inspired the exploration of space and cyberspace and was first to imagine the robot, cyborg, clone and technological singularity. All of these are “mere byproducts” to the real focus of science fiction – society – communities, relationships, individuals – how we transform, mutate and evolve through science and how we use and abuse technology. Science fiction creators imagine the un-imaginable and explore the impossible, they perform huge scale gedankenexperiments and by doing so they give birth to our future, for giving shape to the impossible today, gives shape to the every-day of tomorrow.

The Science Hack Day is for all of you, interested in science and looking to bring it closer together with technology and design. Don't worry, you don't have to be an expert because we have brought-in coaches to support you and your hacks!
- -Get excited and make things, with science!
- -Im Rahmen des Wissenschaftsjahrs "Digitale Gesellschaft" präsentiert die re:publica Lightning Talks, die die Themenschwerpunkte der Subkonferenz, Open Science, Open Data, Open Process illustrieren. Neben den Ergebnissen des hauseigenen Science HackDays werden weitere Projekte vorgestellt.
- -Grundlage einer vernetzten Gesellschaft ist Partizipation - sich einbringen, miteinander teilen, mitgestalten. Doch auf dem Weg dorthin gibt es viele Hürden, bis Internetzugang zu einem Bürgerrecht und digitale Teilhabe zu einer allgemeinen Kulturtechnik werden. Wie wir gemeinsam diese Hürden überwinden können, zeige ich an Beispielen aus dem Design Research Lab - mit digital / analogen Briefkästen, Handschuhen für Taubblinde und Apps zum ziellosen Umherschweifen.

- -Wissenschaftsvermittlung kann so schön sein. Das wollen wir im Rahmen der Subkonferenz zum Wissenschaftsjahr " Digitale Gesellschaft" auch auf die re:publica Bühne bringen. Einige der besten deutschen Science Slammer kommen zu uns, um in einer Art Gruppentherapie gemeinsam mit dem Publikum ihre Forschung zu verarbeiten.
Es geht um: Die Stadt als Spielwiese, Diamanten, den Computer als Stylingqueen...und Sex.
